Dickson Tied 47th, Tomaso 71st After Round 1 of Florida Elite Open

Rhode Islanders Will Dickson and Ryan Tomaso both had their ups and downs on day one of the Florida Elite Open at Orange County National Golf Club.
Dickson fired an even par 72 and is currently in a tie for 47th, while Tomaso posted a one-over 73 and is in a tie for 71st.
“Had so many opportunities but just didn’t make any putts. Bogeyed the last two holes so that left a sour taste in my mouth for lunch,” Dickson told GolfNewsRI on Monday afternoon.

There is a cut after Tuesday’s second round, it is top 40 players and ties.
“It’s going to be long day with rain and cold Tuesday. We will see who can battle it out,” Dickson adds.
Jack Maguire of Florida leads the tournament at eight-under par.
Dickson’s 1st Round
Dickson started the round on fire, birding the first hole and then making an eagle on the second hole to get to three-under on the round.
“Started out birdie eagle, so that was nice,” said Dickson.
However, the former Moses Brown start than bogeyed the next two holes, before dropping another birdie putt on the seventh hole to turn at two-under 34.
On the backside, Dickson made all pars until the 17th and 18th holes when he made back-to-back bogeys to finish at event par.
Tomaso’s 1st Round
Like Dickson, Tomaso got off to a good start, birding the first hole.
However, he gave it right back with a bogey on the second hole, and another bogey on the fourth hole to go to one over.

The University of Hartford grad birdied the fourth hole, but dropped another shot at the eighth hole to turn at 37.
On the back side, Tomaso parred every hole until a bogey on 17 and then a bounce-back birdie on 18 to shoot 73.
