Cameron Smith Holds off Jon Rahm to Win Tournament of Champions

Cameron Smith held off Jon Rahm to win the Tournament of Champions on Sunday afternoon at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii.
Smith finished the tournament at 34-under par to win by one shot over the World’s #1 player in Rahm.

Jonny and I played well the whole day. We had Matty in the group in front lighting it up, as well. So, yeah, unreal round, something I’ll never forget for sure. … We spoke about it earlier in the day. We wanted to get to 35-under. We missed it by one. So, I mean, in that sense, disappointing, but it’s great to come away with the ‘W,” said Smith after the round.
The score of 34-under par is a Tour record.
It also show that the course was not playing very difficult.
The Final Round
Smith and Rahm entered the final round of this shootout all noted up at 26-under par.
However, Rahm got off to a slow start after tying the course record the day before, only making one birdie in the first eight holes.
Meanwhile, Smith dropped three birdies during that same stretch to take a two shot lead into the back nine.
Rahm dropped a birdie putt on the 11th hole, but Smith kept pace with Rahm with birdies on holes 13-15.
Rahm had a putt for eagle on 18 to tie the lead but it just missed.
