REPORT: PGA Tour Increasing FedEx Cup Purse to $75 Million, Bonuses & Prize Money Also Going up

The PGA Tour is increasing the FedEx Cup purse to $75 million for the 2022 season, while also raising bonuses and prize money, according to a report from Eamon Lynch of Golfweek.

This means the winner of next year’s FedEx Cup will receive $18 million, not $15 million as was the case previously.

“Financial rewards and other benefits—not just for the top players but for the entire membership—are growing at an extraordinary pace,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan wrote in a memo to players, obtained by Golfweek.

This all comes on the heels of World Golf Hall of Famer Greg Norman taking over as CEO of the Saudi-backed Super Golf League.

According to Lynch, Monahan did not mention the new rivals in his memo, but did assure players more money was coming.

“Here is the key number you need to know: 55%. Fifty-five percent of the Tour’s revenues will be directed back to players in 2022,” said Monahan.

Breaking Down New Finances

According to Lynch, the Tour’s Player Impact Program (PIP) will grow to $50 million from $40 million.

The Tour will also give $50,000 to every player who makes at least 15 starts.

Golfweek reports that prize money at the FedEx St. Jude and BMW Championship will go from $11.5 million to $15 million.

The prize money for the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Memorial, will pay $12 million as opposed to the previous $10.5 million.

World Golf Championships will also pay $12 million.

The Players Championship is still paying $20 million.
