Will Dickson Snags Top 10 Finish in Pro Golf Debut
Playing in his first professional golf tournament, Rhode Island’s Will Dickson snagged a top ten finish this week at the Savannah Quarters Open in Georgia as part of the G-Pro Tour.
Dickson posted a three-round score of 8-under par (208) to finish tied for ninth and take home $1,965.
After an opening round 71, Dickson posted rounds of 69 and 68 to surge up the leaderboard in the final two days.
“It felt great to put three rounds together and go bogey free today (Thursday) in the rain. Yesterday coming down the street, I knew I had to make some birdies and make no mistakes in order to make the cut,” Dickson told GolfNewsRI via text on Thursday afternoon.
Davis Thompson won the tournament with a score of 21-under par.
“The guys out here just go so low. You just gotta make birdies. So I learned a lot, but need to work on some things and get better compete at the highest level,” Dickson added.
Dickson has one more tournament on the G-Pro Tour this year, the Harbor Classic, before the 2021 season ends.
Dickson’s Final Round
With the rain coming down, Dickson opened the round with a birdie on the first hole and saved par the rest of the way to turn at one-under.
On the back side, the former Moses Brown star opened with three straight pars, before dropping a birdie on the 13th hole.
Dickson made three more pars before closing out his first pro golf tournament with back-to-back birdies to get inside the top ten.
