Chatfield Tied 5th, Notre Dame Leads at Stephens Cup

Davis Chatfield is tied for fifth after day one of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup at The Alotian Golf Club in Arkansas.
Chatfield shot a 36-hole score of 144 tie with Alabama’s Canon Claycomb.
Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish have a commanding lead after day one, posting a team score of 7-under par for the day.

The next closes team is Arizona, who is four-over as a team.
Andrew O’Leary is in a tie for 13th after day one.
The final round of stroke play is Tuesday, before match play begins Wednesday.

Chatfield’s Day
In the first 18, Chatfield started on the first hole and knocked in a birdie putt to get to one-under.
He would bogey the fifth hole, but get it right back with a birdie on the 8th hole to turn at one-under.
On the back side, Chatfield bogeyed the 12th hole, birdied 1 and bogeyed 14 to fall to even par on the day.
However, he would then birdie the next three holes to finish at three-under.
On the second 18, Chatfield opened on the tenth hole, but played the first nine in three-over par to fall down the leaderboard.
Chatfield was a little better on the front side, playing it at event with a bogey on the fourth hole and a birdie on the 8th hole.
O’Leary’s Day
O’Leary opened the day on the first hole with a bogey, then made another bogey on the fifth hole to turn at two-over.
On the back side, the 2019 RI Amateur champ bogeyed 14 and 18 to finish the first round at four-over.
On the second 18, O’Leary started on ten and made birdie.
He would make another birdie at 11, before a double bogey on 12 sent him back to even.
O’Leary made three birdies coming in to turn at three-under for the round.
On the front side, O’Leary birdied the first hole, but then four straight bogeys sent him back to even par for the day and four-over for the tournament.
