Lexi Thompson Blows U.S. Women’s Open, Saso Wins

Lexi Thompson held a five-shot lead with eight holes to play on Sunday afternoon at the U.S. Women’s Open at Olympic Club.

And then, Thompson had a complete melt down.

Thompson made three-bogeys and a double on the final eight holes to shoot 75 for the day and finish third.

Following her round, Thompson didn’t help herself when she only took two questions from the media before her agent pulled her away.

Capitalizing on yet another Thompson collapse was Yuka Saso, who posted a two-over 73 to get into a playoff with Nasa Hataoka.

Saso won the playoff with a birdie on the third playoff hole.

She ties Inbee Park as the youngest player to ever win the U.S. Women’s Open.

Saso is 19-years-old.
