LA Sheriff: Excessive Speed was Cause of Tiger Woods Crash

The primary cause of Tiger Woods’ car crash was that he was going nearly 40 mph over the speed limit, said LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva during a press conference on Wednesday.

“The primary causal factor for this traffic collision was driving at a speed unsafe for the road conditions,” Villanueva said.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, Woods was going between 84 and 87 miles per hour, and the car smashed into a tree at 75 miles per hour

The speed limit on that road is 45 miles per hour, reportedly.

Villanueva emphasized that there was no evidence that Woods was under the influence of drugs or alcohol on the day of the crash.

No charges will be filed against Woods.

It is important to note that LA Sheriffs seeked permission from Woods before releasing information to the public.
