Hatton would pick up shots on the seventh and ninth holes to take a two-shot lead into the back nine.

On the par-5 tenth hole, Hatton dropped a 35-foot birdie putt to match McIlroy’s two-putt birdie.

McIlroy would then bogey the 11th, while Hatton would birdie the 13th and 16th holes.

Rory would finish in third place for the tournament.

He now has four second place finishes, four thirds and a fifth over his last ten starts at Abu Dhabi.

McIlroy has not won a tournament of any kinds since November of 2019.

For Hatton, it is his sixth European Tour title. This win nearly secures a Ryder Cup appearance for him.
