English Beats Niemann in Playoff to Win Sentry Tournament of Champions
Harris English edged Joaquin Niemann in a playoff to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions on Sunday night in Hawaii.
It is his first win in seven years, his last coming in 2014.
“It’s incredible. Lot of hard work over the years. Just, you never think you’re going to get here again… it’s hard to win out here,” said English after the round.
English shot a final round 69 to get into the playoff with Niemann after he missed an eagle putt on 18 to win in regulation.
He then made birdie on the playoff hole to win it.
Great Final Round by Niemann
English’s win puts a bit of a sour note on what was an incredible final round by Niemann.
Niemann started his final round 40 minutes ahead of the leaders and went out and shot a 9-under 64 to take a one shot lead into the clubhouse.
Niemann had six birdies on the front nine and three birdies on the back nine to finish 25-under for the tournament.
