Westwood Wins Race to Dubai Title
Lee Westwood won the Race to Dubai title late last night to end the season as the European Tour’s #1 player.
Now at the age of 47, this is his third Race to Dubai title.
Matt Fitzpatrick won the DP World Tour Championship.
“It was a great finish. I sat there watching it – it’s always exciting this tournament, coming down the stretch and there’s always thrills and spills,” said Westwood.
The win makes Westwood basically a shoo-in for the European Ryder Cup team at Whistling Straits.
It would be his 11th appearance.
Reed Falls Apart
The story in the U.S. was Patrick Reed.
Reed entered the final round of the tournament in a tie for the lead and a win would have made him the first American ever to win the Race to Dubai.
However, that was not to be.
Reed made bogey at number 16 and then again on number 17 to drop out of contention in the final holes.
