Royal Liverpool, Royal Troon to Host Open Championship in 2023, 2024

Royal Liverpool and Royal Troon will host The Open Championship in 2023 and 2024 respectively, the R&A announced on Monday.

This comes after Royal St. George’s will host The Open in 2021, after it was canceled this past season, and St. Andrews will host in 2022.

“We are grateful to everyone involved at the clubs and at our partner organizations for supporting our plans and showing flexibility to adapt their own schedules,” said R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers.

By all accounts, this was the expected rotation before coronavirus, and after coronavirus. Everything is just moved back a year.

Royal Troon

Troon first held The Open Championship in 1923, and now will host it 100 years later.

They last hosted in 2016 when Henrik Stenson out dueled Phil Mickelson.

Liverpool is hosting the Tournament for the 13th time.

It was last played there in 2014 when Rory McIlroy won it.
