BREAKING: Joaquin Niemann Tests Positive for Covid, Withdraws from Masters
Rising PGA Tour star Joaquin Niemann has tested positive for the coronavirus and withdrawn from next week’s Masters Tournament.
“I have tested positive for coronavirus and unfortunately I will not play in the Masters next week as a result. This event means a lot to me, and I have had incredible memories playing as the LAAC champion, as well as alongside some of the game’s greatest players last year. I am disappointed but will do everything possible to recover quickly while keeping my family and team safe,” said Niemann in a statement.
He becomes the first player to withdraw from the Masters due to Covid.
The Masters begins on November 12.
Niemann is 22 years-old and has one career PGA Tour victory.
He currently ranks 23rd in the FedEx Cup and 41st in the world.
