Providence native and University of Oklahoma golf star Patrick Welch finished in a tie for 19th this past week at the Big 12 Colonial Preview at Colonial Country Club in Texas.
Welch shot a pair of 70s in the first two rounds before closing with a 76 in the final round.
Oklahoma, number two in the country, won the tournament by six shots over #4 Texas.
“To get another win is huge for my confidence,” McAllister said after the win. “It’s one thing to believe in yourself, which I do, but to be able to build off prior experiences is something that can help me in the future. This win gives me validation to know that I can win at this level. I’m thankful for all my teammates, who push me day in and day out to become the best player and person I can be,” said Oklahoma’s Logan McAllister, who finished first overall in the tournament.
Oklahoma will now be the top seed at this week’s Big 12 Match Play Championship.
