Grossguth Wins RI Senior Amateur Championship
West Warwick’s Rob Grossguth buried a ten footer for par on 18 to win the Rhode Island Senior Amateur Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Triggs Memorial.
Agawam Hunt’s Bruce Heterick finished second, while Potowomut’s Dante Najarian finished third.
First round leader Paul Quigley finished fourth in the tournament.
Grossguth’s Final Round
Grossguth opened the round with a birdie on the first hole, before saving par on the second and third hole.
He then birdied the par three fourth hole to get to two under.
The first four holes at Triggs are among the toughest opening holes in the state, and Grossguth played them a two-under.
Grossguth then birdied the sixth and eight holes to get to four under for the day, before dropping a shot on the tenth hole.
He then made birdie on 11 and dropped another shot on 15.
After saving par on 16 and 17, he sank a ten footer for par on 18 to seal the win.
