Chatfield Posts 3-Over Par 75 in 1st Round of U.S. Amateur
It was a rough first round for former Rhode Island Amateur Champion Davis Chatfield on Monday in the first round of the U.S. Amateur at Banden Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon.
The Wannamoisett member posted a three-over par 75 in the first round and is currently in a tie for 105th.
Round two of stroke play begins on Tuesday.
The top 64 players make the cut for match play, which begins on Wednesday.
After parring the first six holes, Chatfield made birdie on the seventh hole to get to one-under par.
But, he would follow that up with a double-bogey six on the eighth hole to drop him back to one over for the tournament.
Chatfield would close out the front nine with a birdie to get back to even par.
However, the back nine was not good to Chatfield.
He bogeyed the 10th and 11th holes, and then bogeyed the 18th hole to finish at three-over.
