RI Golf Stars Welch, Chatfield Set to Compete in the U.S. Amateur
Rhode Island golf stars Patrick Welch and Davis Chatfield will be heading out to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Banden, Oregon later his week to compete in next week’s U.S. Amateur.
This will be the second U.S. Amateur appearance for Welch and the third for Chatfield, both played in the 2018 Amateur at Pebble Beach.
The Amateur is set to take place from August 10 to August 16.
Welch is from Providence, where he attended Classical High School and starred on the golf team.
He currently is a junior at the University of Oklahoma where he stars on the men’s golf team.
Most recently, Welch competed in the Western Amateur at Crooked Stick Golf Club, where he missed the cut by one shot.
Davis Chatfield is currently a star golfer at the University of Notre Dame.
He is still a member at Wannamoisett Country Club, where he won the 2016 Rhode Island Amateur.
Earlier this season, Chatfield teamed with Andrew O’Leary to win the Rhode Island Four Ball Championship
