Welch Misses Cut at Western Amateur
Providence native and University of Oklahoma golf star Patrick Welch missed the cut at the Western Amateur at Crooked Stick Golf Club.
Welch entered round two just one shot off the lead, but shot a second round 76 to miss the cut by one shot.
The cut was even par.
Welch’s Second Round
Like he did in round one, Welch opened the second round with two birdies to get to two under for the day.
However, the round changed quickly when he made a triple bogey seven on the fourth hole.
Welch would birdie the fifth hole to get one stroke back, but then bogeyed 6,7 and 8.
He would save par on nine, but bogey ten to drop to one over for the tournament.
Needing a birdie or two coming in, Welch was only able to manage eight straight pars and miss the cut by one shot.
