RI Golf Star O’Leary in Tie for 4th After Day 1 of NE Amateur
Rhode Island golf star Andrew O’Leary is in a tie for fourth place after round one of the New England Amateur at Concord Country Club in Massachusetts.
O’Leary fired a one-under par 69 in the first round and is three shots behind Tatnuck’s Timothy Umphrey.
O’Leary lost the Rhode Island Amateur this past Saturday to Jamie Lukowicz.
He begins round two on Wednesday, July 22 at 2:05 p.m.
O”Leary opened his first round by going birdie, bogey, birdie on the first three holes to get to one under par.
After saving par on the next three holes, O’Leary bogeyed seven to get back to even.
He would par seven straight holes before bogeying 15 to get to one over.
However, the Notre Dame star would close strong, birding two of the last three holes to finish at one under par for the tournament.
Other Rhode Islanders in Field
Other Rhode Islanders in the field include Agawam Hunt’s Ryan Porter, who is one-over after his first round.
Wannamoisett’s Tyler Cooke and URI golf star Chris Francoeur are three-over, while Bobby Leopold is five over.
