Chatfield, O’Leary Lead State Four-Ball Championship After Round 1

Former RI Amateur champion Davis Chatfield and defending RI Amateur champion Andrew O’Leary fired an eight-under par 63 to lead the State Four-Ball Championship by two shots after round one at Potowumot Country Club on Monday.

Valley Country Club’s Alex Parente and Joe Tucker are in second place after shooting a six-under par 65. 

The final round is set to take place on Tuesday at Potowumot. 

Chatfield & O’Leary’s Round 

The duo got off to a fast start with birdies on the fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth holes to get to four-under at the turn. 

The pair of RI Amateur champions added birdied on holes ten and 11 before dropping a shot on the par-3 12th hole. 

That was their lone bogey of the day. 

Chatfield and O’Leary finished the day by birding the 14th and 18th holes to get to eight-under on the day.

Other notables in the field include the team of Andrew Dipetrillo and URI golf star Chris Francoeur, who are tied with Joe Iaciofano and Lenny Curreri at five under par. 

Kevin Blaser and Paul Quigley, sit in fifth place with a score of four-under par. 

They are tied with Bobby Leopold and Tyler Cooke. 

Jeff Maher and University of Oklahoma golf star Patrick Welch finished three-under par and a tie for seventh.
