Two RI Golfers Qualify for New England Amateur

Two Rhode Islanders qualified for the New England Amateur on Tuesday at Agawam Hunt. 

Agawam’s own Michael Caparco and Pawtucket’s Sam Taraian both finished inside the top 11 to punch their ticket to the 2020 New England Amateur that is set to be played at Concord Country Club in late July.

Caparco fired a 1-over 70 to finished in a tie for third, while Taraian carded a 4-over 73 to finish in a tie for 11. 

There are three other qualifying tournaments taking place over he next two weeks. 

Tuesday’s qualifier at Agawam was the only one in Rhode Island, 

Other RI Competitors 

Other Rhode Island competitors who did not make the cut in the first qualifier include Rhode Island Country Club’s Jack Steckler, Kirkbrae’s Tom McCormick, Rhode Island Country Club’s Jim Stallman, Cranston’s Alex Greenwood. 

Also Potowomut’s Justin Grenier, Agawam Hunt’s Tyler Clayton, and Potowomut’s Ricky Angeli,
