The New England region saw a massive jump in golf course openings this week, going from 67% to 88% of courses open, according to the National Golf Foundation (NGF).
That is an increase of 21% from last week.
“With more courses reopening in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine in one of the most northern regions of the country, the New England region had the biggest jump in the past week, going from 67% open to 88%,” writes NGF.
However, the New England region is still tied for the lowest amount of courses open with the west region.
Golf Courses Across the U.S.
Across the country, 95% of golf courses are open for play, up from 91% the prior week.
Behind New England, the second biggest jump came in the Mid-Atlantic region as 97% of courses are now open, up from 84% last week.
“Additional reopenings in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania drove last week’s other double-digit increase in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Northeast,” added NGF.
It should not be long until 100% of the courses are open.
