17th Green at TPC Sawgrass Closed for Drainage Project

The 17th green at TPC Sawgrass, perhaps the most famous hole in golf, is closed.
The green is closed from now through July 5 to improve the drainage on the green.
“We have decided to take advantage of the lower business volume (due to coronavirus) on the Stadium Course and will be doing a renovation project on No. 17 green. The primary purpose of the project is to improve the drainage system on the green. The design and slopes of the green will be consistent with its current design,” TPC Sawgrass general manager Derek Sprague wrote in an email to membership.
According to GolfWeek, the total project time is about 11 weeks.
The course was originally schedule to be closed from June 8 through July 5.

Temporary Green
There will be a temporary hole placed between the ninth and tenth hole.
According to GolfWeek, golfers will drive past 17, play the 18th hole as the 17th hole and then turn right as if they were going to the 10th tee.
The new hole is a short par 3 that plays to the practice putting green.
