Triggs Anticipates Reopening “Sometime Close” to May 8
Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence is anticipating reopening “sometime close to May 8,” the club said in an email to members and players on Thursday morning.
The course was closed on April 7 by Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza to try and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
“As of today we do not have a confirmed reopening date from the City of Providence. However, we are anticipating that we may reopen sometime close to May 8, 2020 if things progress well with containing Covid-19 in Providence,” writes Triggs.
Elorza initially said that closures would last until at least May 1.
Triggs adds, “The good news is we have been diligently working to prepare the golf course for your return and have completed many of our early season conditioning programs including the aeration, top dressing and seeding of all of the greens, tees and fairways. The turf is responding beautifully and will be in fantastic shape when we return to golf at Triggs.”
Triggs was forced to close despite golf courses across the state remaining open for play.
