Providence’s Welch Among 3 Oklahoma Players Named to Ping All-Region Team

Oklahoma golf star and Providence resident Patrick Welch has been named to the 2020 Ping All-Region Team.
He is one of three Sooners to make the list from the central region.

Welch, now a sophomore, rounded out his season by recording his career low, 66, in the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic.
He went on to tie for fourth and pick up his best career finish in the event.

About Welch
Welch is from Providence, where he attended Classical High School.
In 2018, Welch qualified for the U.S. Amateur in a four-man playoff for two spots.
Prior Prior to qualifying for the U.S. Amateur, Welch advanced to the second round of the Rhode Island State Amateur Championship before losing to eventual champion Jake Bauer.
Welch’s career highlights include leading Team USA to a Junior Ryder Cup victory in 2016, finishing second at the 2016 Junior PGA Championship and winning the inaugural Drive, Chip and Putt Championship at Augusta National Golf Club in 2014.
